'Some are confused between friends and enemies,' says Annuar

There seems to be confusion among Muafakat National members in differentiating between friends and foes, claimed BN secretary-general Annuar Musa.

Taking to Facebook, he said that some in the alliance do not know what is being done for national interest and what is for personal agenda.

"Some of us (in Muafakat) are confused on who are our friends and who are the enemies... (between) who is real (and) who is fake," he said today.

While Annuar (above) did not specify what or who he was referring to, the social media post was made after Perak menteri besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu failed a confidence vote in the state assembly on Friday, leading to a change of state government.

For the record, Faizal is from Bersatu, which is an ally of Umno in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government at the federal level. However, during the vote of confidence initiated by Umno, Faizal did not receive the backing of the party's 25 assemblypersons except for one.

Annuar elaborated that efforts to unite the Malays through Muafakat were part of "out-of-the-box" thinking, by assembling all political minds to make it work.

"The decision by Muafakat to form PN also went through the same process (of thinking). Both had yielded results which were not small for the Malays, Muslims and country.

"We know that the enemies have concerted their efforts from outside and from within to make this alliance fail. Propaganda has been going on everywhere, including online," he added.

The ousting of Faizal (below), who is Bersatu deputy president, has shaken the relationship between Bersatu and Umno.

Shortly after the incident, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan announced that the party would not be joining the formation of the new Perak state government.

Meanwhile, Annuar said the political situation today happened allegedly because their enemies are trying to weaken their unity.

"Now they have sensed (our road to) victory towards the 15th general election.

"God willing, there will rise a group who will fight for the truth. The basis of this party and unity must be defended," he added.

Annuar previously had been a target of criticisms from his fellow Umno leaders, including some who accused him of being a spokesperson for Bersatu.

Among them was Johor Umno deputy chairperson Nur Jazlan Mohamed who claimed that the party grassroots are tired of Annuar.

Nur Jazlan also claimed that Annuar's replacement as Umno secretary-general by Ahmad Maslan recently was a sign of him being rejected by party leaders and members.

When Annuar was still Umno secretary-general, his statements had been refuted by other party leaders on several occasions.

This included when he insisted that Umno must be an ally of Bersatu, which was described as "inaccurate" by Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. - Mkini
