IPOH: The appointment of PAS executive council members in the state is up to Sultan Nazrin Shah, newly sworn-in Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad said.
He said that while he could suggest names for the exco, the decision to appoint them lies solely with the sultan.
“We will fill (the number of exco members) as before, and when the time comes, the appointments will be made,” he told reporters after officially clocking in at his office on his first day of work here today.
Five exco members – four from Umno and one from PPBM – were sworn in yesterday after Saarani, the Kota Tampan assemblyman, took his oath of office as Perak’s 14th menteri besar.
Perak PAS chief Razman Zakaria later said he was confident the party would not be left out of the state government.
He said the camaraderie and unity existing between PAS and Umno would prevail in the formation of the new state government.
Razman also said the appointment of the exco members was the prerogative of the menteri besar.
Saarani clocked in at the menteri besar’s office at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here at 9am.
His appointment came after Ahmad Faizal Azumu lost a vote of confidence in the Perak state assembly on Friday and subsequently resigned. - FMT
