Former PKR deputy president Azmin Ali is not at all qualified to talk about morality and point fingers at party president Anwar Ibrahim over the issue of party hopping, said PKR Youth deputy chief Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman.
Calling Azmin the "most wicked politician of the century", Syed Badli (above) claimed that Azmin was the one who had corrupted PKR with his behaviour.
"In fact, the plan to damage PKR has been carefully planned by Azmin for a long time.
"He also organised the youth and women's wings by placing those who lacked credibility as party election candidates leading up to a fierce internal dispute," Syed Badli said in a statement today.
Without providing proof, he alleged that Azmin was behind the selection of those elected representatives who ditched the party and helped trigger the fall of the Pakatan Harapan administration.
Syed Badli was reacting to a joint statement by Azmin and fellow defecting MPs Zuraida Kamaruddin (Ampang), Saifuddin Abdullah (Indera Mahkota) , Rashid Hasnon (Batu Pahat), Kamaruddin Jaffar (Bandar Tun Razak), Mansor Othman (Nibong Tebal), Santhara Kumar (Segamat), Ali Biju (Saratok), Willie Mongin (Puncak Borneo), and Jonathan Yasin (Ranau).
In the statement, Bersatu's senior minister and his cohorts said that many party members had rejected Anwar as PKR had lost track of its fight and idealism.
"This is very unfortunate as we know there are leaders and members of the party who hold true to the principle and idealism but they were sidelined and fell victim to the power of the president.
"They should persevere in their fight but the traitors had snatched the reform agenda from them for their personal interest, family, and cronies," the defecting MPs claimed as the two sides traded accusations in the wake of the latest defection - that of Kuala Langat MP Dr Xavier Jayakumar.
Syed Badli differed sharply saying that Azmin was behind the internal damage caused within the party.
"However, efforts to improve the party's image are increasingly successful as many antagonistic characters allied with Azmin have chosen to leave PKR.
"I consider Azmin to be the worst politician in this century and I call on him to repent," said Syed Badli
PKR Negeri Sembilan executive councillor Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek also weighed in, saying that it was unfortunate that some who were entrusted to lead PKR proved to be deceitful, selfish and failed as leader of the people.
"The goal of PKR since its formation has been to fight for justice and truth and bring progress and prosperity to the country.
"To accomplish this goal, PKR needs leaders who have integrity, vision and authority... thus, the departure of problematic individuals will strengthen the party."
He recalled that PKR carried the hopes of the people and that many had sacrificed a lot in the struggle - being beaten during demonstrations, put in lockups, fired from jobs and other forms of harassment.
"I am optimistic that PKR will become stronger and more stable ahead of GE15 with this cleansing of those who lack vision and are not sincere or competent," said Rafie, who is also the Ampangan assemblyperson. - Mkini
