'Do not defame Bersatu', Wan Saiful tells PKR MPs over enticement claims

PKR leaders should stop blaming others over the defection of its MPs, said Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan.

In a statement today, he said PKR should instead focus on solving the party's internal issues.

"The reality is that PKR is on the verge of collapse. Its own members do not have faith in PKR. The internal crisis inside PKR is so big and growing like cancer.

"Solve your own internal issues. Do not try to change the topic and divert attention by casting slanders," said Wan Saiful.

His statement came in response to scores of allegations that were thrown against Perikatan Nasional recently, claiming that the governing coalition led by Bersatu was trying to fish opposition MPs into switching sides.

The latest was this week, where opposition chief Anwar Ibrahim claimed that four more PKR MPs had been approached with offers to entice them into supporting Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

One of the MPs - M Karupaiya (Padang Serai) - had told several media that he was contacted by a man identified as 'Azhar', and the person had allegedly offered him monetary rewards in exchange for his support for PN.

To this, Wan Saiful lambasted the parliamentarian, saying that the latter should stop trying to defame Bersatu by linking the party to any "stranger" who claimed to represent the party.

He also said that Karupaiya could have created the story about 'Azhar'.

"Now a PKR MP claimed that an unknown man called Azhar had contacted him with offers on behalf of the party (Bersatu). Who is this Azhar? Which party is he from? We don't have any Azhar in Bersatu supreme council.

"We do not know who actually had contacted him, but all of a sudden he wants to defame other people.

"As an MP, he should have known that if someone is not an official representative of a party, then the offer did not come from the party. Do not use this tactic to link the party to any stranger whom we do not know or could have just been created."

Wan Saiful also told Karupaiya to lodge a report with the MACC and police if he really has evidence as per his claim. - Mkini
