Home minister's aide lodges police report over MP-buying allegation

Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin's political secretary lodged a police report against former Umno leader Lokman Noor Adam following the latter's allegation that the minister offered money to a PKR lawmaker to switch parties.

Sayed Amir Muzzakkir Al Sayed Mohamad urged the police to investigate Lokman over the claim made during a Facebook broadcast.

"In the live broadcast, Lokman said Sekijang MP Natrah Ismail mentioned that she was approached by a 'Dato Seri' and that Dato Seri was Hamzah Zainudin, who had offered an amount of money so that she would defect to Bersatu and support the prime minister.

"Such a remark was mala fide and defamatory in nature, it means to instigate and instil hatred among the people against the government led by Muhyiddin Yassin," said Sayed Amir in his police report.

"The remarks were slanderous by implying the home minister had resorted to buying over the parliamentarian," he added.

Apart from Facebook, he said a video clip of the allegation was also making its rounds on WhatsApp.

He urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation against the former Umno supreme council member.

The police report was lodged at the Travers Police Station in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

In his 50-minute live stream, Lokman alleged that Hamzah had been instructed by Muhyiddin to buy over parliamentarians ahead of the 15th general election.

Last week, Natrah claimed that there was an attempt to poach her to support Muhyiddin, an attempt which she rejected.

The MACC has opened an investigation paper on her allegation that she was offered RM10 million to switch parties. - Mkini
