KOTA BARU: Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob was warded at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian here after complaining of a headache last night.
State Local Government, Health and Housing Committee chairman Dr Izani Husin said Ahmad, who is Pasir Pekan assemblyman, was warded about 7pm.
He dismissed claims that Ahmad, 71, was warded due to side effects following the Covid-19 vaccination he received yesterday.
He said the menteri besar was now in stable condition but was told to get more rest.
"He has been complaining of headaches for the past two days and told me that he has not been getting enough sleep of late.
"Yesterday evening when I was at his home, he complained of having the headache again and together with his family, we took him to HUSM where he was warded at a normal ward," he said.
Due to Ahmad's history of having heart problems, said Dr Izani, the menteri besar was required to undergo a full medical check-up.
"After undergoing heart and kidney checks, doctors confirmed he was stable and his condition was not related to the vaccination," he said.
Dr Izani said Ahmad is expected to be discharged from the hospital tomorrow.
Ahmad was among the first to receive the vaccination during a state-level Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP) at Darulnaim Complex here yesterday. - NST
