King Gave Nod For RM100,000 Fine For ‘Fake News Law’, Says Takiyuddin

 

(FMT) – The King has given his approval for the new emergency ordinance that would see fines of up to RM100,000 for fake news, de facto law minister Takiyuddin Hassan said.

Citing the newly gazetted ordinance, he said it clearly stated that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong was satisfied on the need for immediate action through the ordinance to preserve the nation’s “security, economic life and public order”.
