MCA has called on all parties to cease political conflicts and focus on eliminating Covid-19 amid the leadership tussle between Umno and Bersatu.
This was among the resolutions passed at the MCA's 67th annual general assembly at Wisma MCA in Kuala Lumpur today.
"The general assembly urges an end to political conflicts. All parties must concentrate on stopping the pandemic, helping the people and revitalising the economy," read the resolution.
MCA, however, stopped short in naming its BN ally Umno, which decided to terminate its cooperation with Perikatan Nasional (PN) for the next general election.
Previously, the position of MCA and MIC remained unclear after Umno decided not to support PN once Parliament is dissolved.
Party president Wee Ka Siong, however, pledged that MCA will stay with BN and other parties to strengthen the spirit of diversity and moderation when the need arises.
It was reported that BN parties will support PN until the Parliament is dissolved.
MCA's resolution also called for the party to prepare for the next general election under the integrated guidance of the mechanism and strategies of BN.
"We adhere to our party’s political ideologies to promote the spirit of pluralism and moderation, and serve all people regardless of ethnicities," it added.
MCA also supported government measures to quell the pandemic and hasten the return to normalcy.
"We support the government in providing free Covid-19 vaccinations, prioritising frontline personnel, high-risk and vulnerable groups." - Mkini
