Wan Saiful: Anyone trying to weaken PN govt is agent of DAP, Harapan

Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan believes that anyone trying to split up the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government and the alliance of Bersatu, Umno and PAS is an agent of DAP and Pakatan Harapan.

In a Facebook post today, Wan Saiful backed PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man's advice to leaders of all the coalition's parties to continue supporting the PN government, led by Bersatu.

"I support the call of Tuan Ibrahim who wants the political cooperation that formed the PN government to continue not only for the 15th general election but after it.

"The division of Malay votes will result in political instability that will make it even more difficult to protect the welfare of people of all races and religions," said Wan Saiful who, along with the majority of Bersatu, walked out on the previous Harapan administration.

"We know that DAP and Harapan really want Malay votes to be split for them to return to power, so surely (Tuan Ibrahim's) call to maintain this political cooperation must be taken seriously by all sincere people.

"For me, anyone who intentionally wants us to split and wants us to be weak, they are DAP and Harapan agents. Their agents may come in many forms. DAP and Harapan really want a new alignment that weakens us," he added.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been a focal point for the party's dissatisfaction with its place in the PN government, recently saying that there were efforts made to control Umno after attempts to destroy the largest Malay-based party had failed.

"The principle of Muslim unity must be based on honesty and sincerity, not to take control in order to remain in power and not to serve the interest of certain individuals," said Zahid.

Three Umno parliamentarians - Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, Padang Rengas MP Nazri Abdul Aziz and Machang MP Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub - have already withdrawn support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also the Bersatu president, in a bid to pressure him into calling a general election.

Tuan Ibrahim had asked for the PN coalition parties to minimise internal politics so that more focus can be given to solve issues plaguing the people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Wan Saiful contested the last general election in Pendang, Kedah, garnering 24 percent of the vote as he came in third behind PAS' Awang Solahudin Hashim and Umno's Othman Abdul.

He said he really appreciated the opinion of Tuan Ibrahim who called for sincere support for the government.

"When we are in a family, don't intentionally create a view that drives family members apart. We must always take care of the family spirit, not often trying to destroy a union that is available for personal agenda.

"In this difficult national situation right now, the people want us to focus on welfare and economic construction.

"Don't be an agent to ruin the political stability of the country," he added.
