12 private hospitals join national vaccination campaign tomorrow

Private hospitals will be joining Malaysia’s Covid-19 vaccine rollout tomorrow as 12 hospitals start inoculating people under the federal government’s National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP).

ProtectHealth Corporation CEO Anas Alam Faizli said the 12 hospitals have a combined capacity of 2,250 doses per day.

“Twelve private hospitals will begin operations tomorrow (May 25) as private hospital vaccine administration centres (PPV HS) under NIP with a combined capacity of 2,250 doses per day and will be increased each week,” he said on Twitter today.

ProtectHealth is a GLC owned by the Health Ministry and coordinates the private sector’s involvement in NIP.

According to a list circulated by the Health Ministry, five of the hospitals are located in Negeri Sembilan, five in Sarawak, and two in Selangor:

Sarawak

· Columbia Asia Hospital, Miri

· KPJ Kuching Specialist Hospital

· Rejang Medical Centre

· Timberland Medical Centre

· Borneo Medical Centre

Negeri Sembilan

· Nilai Medical Centre

· Senawang Specialist Hospital

· UCSI Hospital

· KPJ Seremban Specialist Hospital

· Mawar Medical Centre

Selangor

· KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital

· MSU Medical Centre

The development comes as the government works to ramp up vaccination rates to 150,000 injections a day within the next two months, as more vaccine deliveries are expected to reach Malaysia in June and July.

Malaysia administered an average of 42,025 doses of Covid-19 vaccines per day in the 14 days up to May 22. This includes the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays where very few doses were administered.

The highest rate to date was recorded on May 19 where 83,648 doses of vaccines from Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sinovac were administered in a single day. - Mkini
