KOTA KINABALU: Three firemen suffered electric shocks when responding to a fire which razed about 30 houses at Kampung Meruntun in Lok Kawi, Putatan, near here today.
Sabah fire and rescue chief Md Ali Ismail said the firemen were from the Kota Kinabalu station and were under observation but were reported to be in stable condition.
He said a distress call was received at 5.40pm, with fire engines from the Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Lintas stations despatched to the scene.
Smoke from the fire could be seen from as far away as the city centre, about 15km from Putatan.
“At the moment, efforts to get the fire under control are still ongoing,” he said, adding no deaths have been reported so far.
Ali said the fire unit from the nearby Lok Kawi army camp also helped in the firefighting efforts. - FMT
