PETALING JAYA: The home ministry has instructed all enforcement agencies to ramp up the monitoring and enforcement of Covid-19 SOPs, and to take strong action against those found not complying.

In a statement, the ministry said it had received multiple reports of SOP non-compliance from its departments and agencies.

It added that personnel will be deployed to conduct checks to prevent people from crossing state or district lines via public transportation such as trains or even e-hailing vehicles.

“This directive was issued to ensure the spread of Covid-19 is curbed more effectively, especially with Aidilfitri next week,” it said, adding that more roadblocks will be set up.

Since the movement control order (MCO) first began, 100,980 personnel from various home ministry departments and agencies have been involved in monitoring Covid-19 SOPs, it said. - FMT
