Police have arrested a 36-year-old woman in connection with several viral Facebook postings that contained alleged harsh words and threats against personnel on duty at a roadblock in Putrajaya.
Putrajaya District police chief Mohd Fadzil Ali said a police report was made against several viral postings from the Facebook account "Diana Mat" at 10.53am yesterday and the arrest was made at 9pm.
Among others, he said the woman, believed to be the Facebook account owner, had allegedly threatened to turn around her car and crash through the personnel on duty, likened them to dogs and criminals, labelled Putrajaya police as "bastards" and claimed to be unafraid of the authorities.
"The woman has been arrested and will be brought before the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court to for us obtain a remand order and facilitate further investigations.
"The case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code (criminal intimidation), Section 504 of the Penal Code (intentional insult to provoke anger) and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (improper use of network facilities)," Fadzil said.
He further urged social media users to refrain from making statements or comments that could degrade or tarnish the credibility of an individual or agency. - Mkini
