SHAH ALAM: A retired senior police officer is under investigation for allegedly violating movement control order standard operating procedures during Hari Raya.
Datuk Kamaruddin Mat Desa, a former Bukit Aman deputy Commercial Crime Investigation Department director, is being probed for inviting six on-duty policemen into his house for a meal on the first day of Raya (May 13).
A photo of the policemen eating lemang and ketupat, which was uploaded by Kamaruddin on his Facebook and Twitter, has gone viral.
In the post, Kamaruddin said that the six policemen, from the Section 6 Shah Alam police station, were conducting SOP compliance monitoring when they noticed six vehicles in front of Kamaruddin's house.
He informed the policemen that his children who were staying within the same district had come home, before inviting the six to have a meal as they were already there.
The Facebook and Twitter posts have since been taken down but screenshots of the posts are still making rounds on social media.
Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taid confirmed the case, saying that it is being investigated under Rule 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations.
"The investigation papers will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's office soon for further action," he said. - Star
