KUALA LUMPUR: Economic activities such as Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars will be allowed to operate, albeit under strict compliance of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), at the five districts in Kedah which have been placed under the Movement Control Order (MCO).
The affected districts are Kota Setar, Kuala Muda, Bandar Baharu, Baling and Kulim.
Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said other economic activities allowed to operate at the five districts, which have been placed under MCO since May 1, included supermarkets.
"Just finished attending the National Security Council special meeting (that was conducted virtually) which started at 2.30pm today. Important decisions were made in relation to the five districts in Kedah placed under MCO.
"These include economic activities such as supermarkets, Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars being allowed to operate with strict compliance of the SOP," he said in a posting on his Facebook page today.
Sanusi added that other measures to be implemented to prevent the surge of Covid-19 cases would be announced by Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Sanusi, however, did not indicate when Ismail Sabri will make the announcement.
It was reported that the five districts in Kedah were placed under MCO after registering an increasing trend of new Covid-19 infections for the past 14 days.- NST
