MyBurgerLab has cautioned other businesses about their staff eating on premises after a close shave with authorities.

The burger chain said authorities had wanted to slap it with an RM25,000 fine this evening after a staff ate at its Petaling Jaya outlet shortly before clocking in for his shift.

The staff member had yet to change into his staff uniform at the time.

Dine-in is not allowed under the movement control order (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOP) but it is silent on staff members.

"Are staff suppose to hide in the corner to eat? Must all employees have uniforms to be considered a staff? What are the rules?

"Half baked SOPs and MCOs are dished out as you please, we have no choice but to just abide and follow.

"It really feels like the governing body is out to get every one of us. Do you want businesses everywhere to shut down?" it asked in a Facebook post.

The business said it had asked the officers who wanted to dish out the fine on what staff members should do but received an unsatisfactory answer.

"Here's the kicker. When we asked 'so where do the staff eat then?' Answer: 'Be smart. Hide'," it said.

However, MyBurgerLab said its outlet was finally let off with a warning after pleading with the officers.

"We are let off with a warning after we showed our letter of employment of said staff and evidence of his schedule for today's dinner shift," it said.
