PETALING JAYA: Police say a few suspects were arrested on Dec 6 last year following a rape allegation made by a 33-year-old woman against two friends of Gombak Setia assemblyman Hilman Idham.

However, it was understood that the suspects were released on police bail.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Azmi Abu Kassim said he was in the process of investigating the case.

“On Dec 8 (2020), the victim lodged a police report to withdraw the case and did not want the matter to be brought to court. However in January, the victim asked for us to resume the case,” he said, according to Malaysiakini.

He said investigation papers will be handed over to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further instructions.

One of the people implicated in the police report was a division leader of a component party of Perikatan Nasional, while the other was said to be an old acquaintance of Hilman.

News of the police report was revealed by former Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Adam. - FMT
