Police have started investigations on alleged misconduct and abuse of power claims made against Sarawak deputy police commissioner Fisol Salleh.
Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department director Zamri Yahya in a statement today said police received several complaints against Fisol, who had served in his position since last November.
"The department has opened investigations on all the complaints in a transparent and thorough manner.
"Necessary action will be taken if any statement received points towards misconduct or abuse of power by the senior police officer," Zamri said.
He also assured the public that the police would not protect any personnel, whether in senior or rank-and-file positions, if they are found to be involved in misconduct, irregularities or abuse of power.
Utusan Borneo on Monday quoted Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department chief Lukas Aket as saying that police would identify an individual said to have used a fake name and Facebook profile to slander Fisol.
Among others, Lukas said the individual had accused Fisol of being a "protector" of gambling, smuggling and triad syndicates in Sarawak. - Mkini
