Syed Saddiq called up by cops over Tajuddin tweet

Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman tweeted about the lack of a face mask on Tajuddin Abdul Rahman at yesterday’s press conference.

PETALING JAYA: Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has been called for questioning by the police again.

This time, he said, it was over a Tweet questioning former Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chairman Tajuddin Abdul Rahman who was seen wearing a face shield without a face mask at a press conference.

This is the second time he has been called in for questioning in a week.

He said in a tweet today: “Once again I have been called by the police. This time over this Tweet (he linked his tweet from yesterday). I have just been informed that I have to go to the police station tomorrow to record my statement. I hope they don’t seize my phone again.”

Yesterday, he had pointed out that wearing a face shield without a face mask was a violation of SOPs under the present movement control order.

In the Twitter post, he had included screenshots of two news reports, one with a photograph of Tajuddin and one with senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob stating that wearing a face shield without a face mask was a punishable offence.

Syed Saddiq said: “We will see whether or not the government will punish the Prasarana chairman. I think we all know how this will end.”

Four days ago, the MP was called to give his statement at the Dang Wangi police station over a 45-second video he had made on April 28 following the death of cow’s milk trader A Ganapathy while in police custody.

After the two-hour probe, he said his phone was seized by the police.

He also said it was possible that he could be summoned again to record another statement, adding that he was being investigated under Section 503 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act. - FMT
