GEORGE TOWN: Three policemen from the Alor Setar district were arrested earlier this morning after they had allegedly robbed over RM400,000 in cash from a delivery company specialising in distributing items from online retail sites.
According to a police source, the three cops – a sergeant and two corporals – had prised open the shutter doors of the courier company’s office near Mergong at 2.30am on Wednesday.
A delivery rider who alerted the police said he saw three men dragging a few sacks of items into a white Perodua Axia. When he went to check on the facility later, he found the fuse had been removed from the power mains and a safe with RM400,000 in it had gone missing.
Following an investigation, police nabbed the three cops at about 1am today, but found only RM232,395 in their possession.
A raiding party also found a hand grinder and a handbag. Three mobile phones were also seized.
