Camerons villages among 9 locations placed under EMCO

The two-week enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in certain locations will begin on Monday.

PETALING JAYA: Several villages in Cameron Highlands are among the nine places that will go under a two-week enhanced movement control order (EMCO) starting Monday due to an increase in Covid-19 cases.

Senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that other locations to be placed under EMCO from June 14 to June 27 are Kampung Lakai in Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan; Kampung Indah in Nabawan; and Kampung Manggis in Kuala Penyu, Sabah.

Besides that, Taman Kinabutan Ria and Simpang Inderasabah in Tawau, Sabah, along with Kampung Baru (SFI), Sipitang, and Kampung Tawadakan and Kampung Kota Bungan in Kota Belud will also go under lockdown.

Meanwhile, Ismail said the EMCO order in several locations — such as Kampung Baru Melayu Bentong, Felda Jengka 24 in Pahang — will end tonight.

The EMCO in several Sabah villages, namely Felda Sahabat 40, Kampung Padawan, as well as several housing areas in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, and Ladang Chin Teck in Rompin, Pahang, will end on Sunday.

Ismail also said the authorities arrested 887 people yesterday for breaching movement control order rules.

The majority of the offenders (849) had their offences compounded while 38 others were remanded.

Ismail said among the offences were failure to wear face masks, crossing districts or states without permission, failure to provide materials for contact tracing or registration, and visiting nightclubs.

He added the authorities also seized three boats in their on-going Op Benteng. - FMT
