Covid-19: Sabah tightens business operating hours following spike in cases

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has tightened the operating hours of businesses following the increasing Covid-19 cases in the state.

Minister in charge of Covid-19 matters in Sabah, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said this will see businesses operate from 9am to 6pm, and 6am to 3pm daily, according to sectors until further notice.

Fishery related activities will have a different time arrangement which includes a 24-hour operation allowance period for coastal, sea and aquaculture activities in non-Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) areas.

He said this when announcing Sabah’s 305 new Covid-19 cases and six new clusters on Sunday (June 6).

Masidi said work travel for government and private sectors are no longer allowed to and from Labuan throughout the movement control order period until June 14 due to the number of cases there.

He said those travelling from Labuan had sparked a new cluster in Sabah last month.

Meanwhile, a total of 125 compound notices were issued on June 6.

The offences include those who did not wear their face masks properly, crossing districts without permit, conducting activities that are not allowed, and going out for fun. - Star
