Over 151k Covid-19 vaccine doses administered yesterday

The pace of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Program (NIP) reached a new milestone yesterday after administering 151,309 doses in a single day.

According to daily updates from the Special Committee on Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), 105,722 people received their first of two doses, while 45,587 people got their second dose.

A person’s vaccination is considered complete 14 days after the second dose is administered.

Previously, the government aimed to consistently administer 150,000 doses per day in June as more vaccine deliveries reach Malaysia.

This is expected to improve to 200,000 doses per day in July.

Prior to this, the highest rate was 117,563 doses administered in a single day on June 3.

So far, 2,609,377 people have received at least one dose, which is about 10.8 percent of Malaysia’s adult population.

There are 1,180,744 people (4.9 percent of adults) who have received both doses.

In terms of the proportion of adults who have received at least one dose, the rate is highest in smaller states and territories in the country.

The highest is 49 percent in Putrajaya, followed by Kuala Lumpur (30 percent), Labuan (22 percent), and Perlis (20.9 percent).

In Selangor, which is the worst-hit state in the current Covid-19 outbreak, 379,119 people (7.8 percent of adults) have received at least one dose, while 152,215 people (3.1 percent) have received both doses.

The number of people registered for vaccination is still below the NIP’s target of vaccinating at least 23.6 million people by the end of the year.

As of yesterday, only 12,774,132 people have signed up for vaccination, which is 52.7 percent of the adult population.

The registration rate is lowest in Sabah (20.0 percent), Kelantan (37.5 percent), and Terengganu (43.8 percent). - Mkini
