Phase 4 vaccination starting June 16 for critical economic sectors - KJ

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced today that there will be a Phase 4, starting on June 16 in Pengerang, Johor under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) targeted at those working in critical economic sectors.

“I want to inform that after looking at the spread of Covid-19 cases and taking into account the NIP, there will be a Phase 4.

“The Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) has decided to start giving vaccines to critical economic sectors, those that need to continue operating throughout the movement control order (MCO), such as manufacturing, export, logistics and transport, energy, utilities and others,” Khairy said.

He was speaking at the weekly joint press conference with Health Minister Dr Adham Baba on the progress of the NIP. The press conference was held in Putrajaya and broadcast online.

Khairy said Phase 4 will begin at the Pengerang Integrated Complex as the location has been identified as high-risk.

“We will be starting (Phase 4) for employees of the Petronas complex in Pengerang on June 16 and the others (in critical economic sectors) will follow,” he said.

The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) is currently working with the relevant ministries and government agencies to implement Phase 4 of the NIP, he said.

They will also cooperate with ProtectHealth Sdn Bhd, which is wholly owned by the Health Ministry to manage the administering of the vaccines for these industries.

Khairy also said media practitioners have started getting their vaccinations today, as promised by the government.

A total of 98 media practitioners from both local and international news agencies received their Covid-19 vaccinations in Putrajaya today, he added. - Mkini
