QR codes not ready, property managers told not to use Miti's Cims 3.0 yet

The facility and property management industry has been instructed to wait their turn to receive an exemption from suspending business during the two-week "total lockdown" period which began today.

In a statement, Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) was still preparing documentation for this sector.

As such, she advised industry players not to access Miti's "Covid-19 intelligent management system" (Cims 3.0) because it would cause congestion on the website.

"We expect Miti to prepare the QR codes by today, at the latest. We will issue a statement once the process is completed," said Zuraida.

On Sunday, the government had mandated all businesses to seek exemption approval from the respective ministries acting as regulators. This is for them to continue operating during the lockdown.

However, the government changed the rules at the eleventh hour yesterday, mandating that only one ministry - Miti - was to handle all the approval letters instead.

Access to Miti's Cims 3.0 website has patchy over the past two days, often returning "Error 503 backend fetch failed" or "Ralat 500" messages.

Successful applicants will receive documentation containing a QR code which staff can show to enforcers to prove that they are working in "essential services" and thus allowed to leave their homes. - Mkini
