Raja Bahrin BOHONG

Raja Bahrin is either ignorant or is being dishonest. He is misleading the public and is spreading fake news. And this is not the first time he is stooping so low and is playing the fake news game. Raja Bahrin appears very desperate and bankrupt of ideas that he needs to resort to fabrication to stay relevant.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Raja Petra Kamarudin

The Menteri Besar of Terengganu from 2004 to 2008 was Idris Jusoh, followed by Ahmad Said from 2008 to 2014, and Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman from 2014 to 2018. It was not until May 2018 when Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar took over as the Menteri Besar.

The decision to invest RM818 million in Kalimantan, Indonesia, was made by the Umno government in 2007, more than ten years before the PAS government took over in 2018. This investment proved an epic disaster and the Terengganu state government decided to divest their much-depreciated Kalimantan interest in 2014-2015.

However, the losses were not written off in the books until 2018 when the new government took over. Hence the previous government was dishonest by not declaring the losses in its audited accounts. They had left the investment in the books at the full value of RM818 million, whereas the value had actually depreciated by about RM600 million

The Chairman of AMANAH Terengganu, Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah, is blaming this Kalimantan disaster on the PAS government. That is a lie. The losses were incurred by the previous Umno government while the PAS government merely wrote off what should have been written off many years earlier but was not.

Umno’s Idris Jusoh behind the TDM disaster in Indonesia

By Terengganu Insider

It has been viral recently by an unnamed poster with an ill intent to paint a bad picture about TDM Berhad. However, upon thorough deliberation through annual reports, all numbers quoted by the unnamed poster differ from what have been declared in the annual reports of TDM Berhad.

In or around 2007, TDM, under the previous government and management, decided to invest in oil palm plantations in Indonesia. As of to date, the original investment for this estate in Indonesia is about RM818 million. The current market value of the estate is about RM220 million, a loss of about RM600 million.

This was poorly managed and TDM may have been even badly advised to participate in this venture.

With a new board of directors appointed in 2018, they realised that even though the venture was losing hundreds of millions in Indonesia, appropriate and sufficient impairment and provisions were not made.

The board of directors then decided to start impairing the investments in TDM’s account starting from 2018, with FOREX losses of RM28 million and impairments of RM41 million.

This continued into 2019 with RM109 million impairments and fire losses (estates burned down) of RM34 million and 2020 with impairments of RM23 million with hundreds of millions having been provided for. This resulted in TDM recording losses in those years of 2018, 2019 and 2020 instead of profits, as it should have been.

In short, these were carried-forward losses from pre-2018 and not losses incurred for 2018, 2019 and 2020.

The previous board and management had decided to divest the investments in or around 2014-2015. With that decision, the plantations were abandoned, and all planting and maintenance work ceased, causing the estates to deteriorate into a sorry state. However, right until the change of board of directors in 2018, no sale had been concluded.

Please also note that for year 2017, TDM incurred losses of RM48 million, not a profit of RM23 million as claimed.

Raja Bahrin BOHONG dan sebar fake news

Malaysia Dateline

TDM Berhad mempunyai pelaburan besar ladang kelapa sawit.
