PETALING JAYA: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has given his consent for the state assembly to reconvene on Aug 23.
Bernama reported that this was confirmed by state assembly speaker Ng Suee Lim. The state assembly will sit from Aug 23 to Sept 3.
Selangor joins Johor and Negeri Sembilan in seeing their state assemblies reconvening, with the proceedings in the latter two states starting in the first week of August.
The states of Melaka, Penang, Sabah and Pahang have either fixed the dates for the sitting or are awaiting consent from their Rulers and governors.
Meanwhile, Parliament earlier today proposed a special sitting to be held in early August, only to discuss amendments to the Standing Orders to enable a hybrid sitting.
That has come under fire with many asking why the Dewan Rakyat needs to discuss amendments and have a hybrid meeting while state assemblies can meet as usual. - FMT
