PETALING JAYA: The next parliamentary session is an opportunity for the public to monitor the performance of MPs and decide who to support in the 15th general election (GE15), says Gerakan.
Party president Dominic Lau said it was important to see if MPs would make use of Parliament for their own interests or to genuinely discuss Covid-19 matters.
According to Lau, the public wished to see MPs from both sides of the political divide coming together to battle the pandemic.
“If they attend Parliament to fulfil their own political agendas, then it will be a waste of everyone’s time,” he told a press conference after the Gerakan Central Committee meeting today.
“It can be used as a benchmark for us to determine who we should vote or support in the upcoming general election.”
Asked when he thought Parliament should convene, Lau said he did not know as he was not the prime minister.
“Sooner or later, it will be open,” he said.
Lau also announced that Gerakan would be forming an “integrity bureau” and implementing an Anti-Bribery Management System (ISO 37001), following discussions with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission this morning.
“We think this is necessary and in line with our ideology to ensure that our party and country are clean and free from corruption.” - FMT
