Several areas in Sarawak have been hit by a power outage, according to media reports.
This includes state capital Kuching where the outage has been attributed to a trip along the 275 kilovolts Murum transmission lines.
"Update: Double circuit tripping of Murum transmission lines caused major supply interruption. Supply is being safely restored progressively," said state power company Sarawak Energy on Twitter.
According to the Borneo Post, blackouts had occurred since 9.30pm at several locations in Kuching and reports of outages were also received from locations as far as Sebauh in Bintulu.
The Dayak Daily reported that the power outage also affected Sibu and Miri.
Social media platforms including Twitter have been abuzz with netizens in Sarawak sharing updates on the situation.
