Shopee has denied a viral message claiming that 50 of its staff have been infected with Covid-19.
A spokesperson for the e-commerce platform also stressed that the company had stringent Covid-19 response measures including a team that conducts first, second, and third degree contact tracing whenever there is a case.
"Additionally, as the country continues to battle against Covid-19, we have taken a proactive measure to get everyone in the workforce swabbed for Covid-19.
"This is also to sieve out any potential asymptomatic cases amongst the workforce," read a statement from Shopee to Malaysiakini.
In a separate statement, Shopee also said that its warehouse in Shah Alam was being temporarily shut down to enable the company to implement additional SOPs as outlined by the Health Ministry in light of the enhanced movement control order in Shah Alam.
It was commenting on a separate viral photo of the Health Ministry's order for the warehouse to close from July 9 to July 16.
Shopee said that its other operations are continuing as usual.
"To clarify, the Shopee platform is operating per business as usual and deliveries made by Shopee Express and all our other delivery partners are not affected.
"Some delays may occur and only for deliveries via our warehouse which are a small portion of overall orders.
"Buyers whose orders are affected will also receive an alert via push notifications through their Shopee online account," it said. - Mkini
