As the Covid-19 situation improves, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that all states will now be in Phase 3 and beyond of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
Five states will transition from Phase 2 to Phase 3 from Monday (Oct 18) onwards.
The states are Kelantan, Perak, Penang, Sabah, and Kedah.
Also, from Oct 18 onwards, Malacca and the Klang Valley - comprising Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor - will transition from Phase 3 to Phase 4.
“These phase transitions follow NRP guidelines and the percentage of the adult population who are fully vaccinated.
“With the transitions stated for these states, entire Malaysia has now transitioned to Phase 3,” Ismail Sabri said in a statement today.
He did not specify the rule changes for these transitions but said standard operating procedures (SOPs) could be obtained on the National Security Council (NCS) website.
Phase 3 SOPs can be accessed here while those for Phase 4 are here.
Ismail Sabri added that these decisions were based on how the number of daily Covid-19 cases for the entire country has dipped below 10,000 for 14 consecutive days.
The nationwide infectivity rate (R-naught) was 0.88 as of yesterday, indicating that the pandemic was shrinking.
As for national Covid-19 vaccination rates, the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply reported that 91.2 percent of the adult population had been fully inoculated as of Oct 14. - Mkini
