RANAU: The Mountain Search and Rescue (Mosar) and other agencies responded to three separate emergency cases involving climbers at Mount Kinabalu near here since last night.
In the first case at 7.05pm, Mosar was informed about a woman at Panalaban, who was experiencing difficulty in breathing.
Panalaban is the rest station before climbers ascend to the summit the following day.
The team took almost 10 hours to bring the victim from Panalaban to the starting point at Timpohon Gate before sending her to the district hospital for further treatment.
Later at 10pm, the district Fire and Rescue department was alerted to a second case involving a man who was suffering from shortness of breath at KM5.6, which is 400m before Panalaban.
"Mosar and Sabah Parks personnel rushed to the location to give him oxygen and escort the victim to Panalaban for monitoring," said a statement, which stated that the second operation ended at 11.30pm.
The rescue agency responded to a third case at 9.30am today involving a man who could not go down due to knee injuries.
The statement said the team put on arm tape on his injured knee as early treatment, before he was safely brought down to Timpohon Gate using a Robinson stretcher.
"The victim was sent to the Kundasang National Civics Bureau (BTN) accommodation and the operation ended at 5.16pm," it said. - NST
