"The number of children under age 11 infected by Covid-19 is still high at 673.
"Out of that, 283 are those under 5 who are not yet eligible for vaccination, while 390 are aged between 5 and 11 who are unvaccinated.
"The second group accounts for 12.56 per cent of the total daily number of Covid-19 cases today," he said in a statement.
Masidi urged parents to get their children vaccinated to prevent serious complications due to the infection.
As of 9am today, 5 percent or 20,710 children in Sabah have been given their first dose of the vaccine.
Sabah recorded 5,565 new cases with nine people in category 3, four in category 4 and five in category 5.
Kota Kinabalu has the highest number of confirmed cases at 1,362, followed by Penampang (538), Tuaran (494), Putatan (457), Papar (293), Lahad Datu (244) and Tawau (243).
Other districts with three-digit figures are Beaufort (233), Sandakan (207), Kota Belud (203), Keningau (166), Kota Marudu (150) and Ranau (147). - NST
