PETALING JAYA: MCA’s 73rd anniversary celebrations will be held tomorrow, a day before the Johor state election’s nomination day, says party secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon.
He said the reason for holding the MCA celebration 24 hours before nomination was to lend moral support to Barisan Nasional and its election machinery.
Chong said the timing of the occasion would ensure that the support given would be a driving force for the coalition’s success in the state polls.
“We pledge to forge a politically stable Johor to better galvanise economic recovery and prosperity,” he said in a statement.
Chong also said that the celebration would be held at Che Ann Khor Yong Peng Association in Johor and would be streamed live.
“The commemorations will begin at 11am and will be conducted in a hybrid format (onsite and online) with special guests and party members in attendance.
“Members of the party and public alike are welcome to witness this occasion via MCA’s official Facebook page,” he added.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the party’s 72nd anniversary celebration last year was held entirely online, where a commemorative website for the party’s founder, Tun Sir Tan Cheng Lock, was also launched. - Star
