Muhyiddin: Najib's CSR - Crook's Self en-Richment

Ex-prime minister Najib Abdul Razak may have framed his usage of funds from state-owned SRC International Sdn Bhd as a case of "Corporate Social Responsibility" but it's really "Crook's Self en-Richment", said Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.

Muhyiddin (above) highlighted the various fund usages which included credit card payments, house renovations, and propaganda amounting to more than RM7 million.

"Tens of millions was also used for other personal and political use. Yes, some money was given to orphans but it is a small sum compared to what was used for personal and political use.

"This did not include the RM4 billion loan SRC borrowed from the Retirement Fund Incorporated that went missing. In the end, the government had to pay up because the loan was guaranteed by the government when Najib was the prime minister and finance minister.

"This is Najib's CSR - Crook's Self en-Richment!" Muhyiddin said.

Muhyiddin has stepped up attacks against Umno, particularly its leaders who are facing graft trials, ahead of the upcoming Johor polls.

This is amid the deteriorating relationship between Bersatu and Umno despite both parties being part of the federal government.

Both parties are expected to clash in the state polls.

Najib was in July 2020 sentenced to 12 years imprisonment and an RM210 million fine after he was found guilty by the Kuala Lumpur High Court of abuse of power, money laundering, and criminal breach of trust with regard to RM42 million of funds belonging to SRC International.

The Court of Appeal upheld the decision last December. Najib is appealing the case at the Federal Court.

Muhyiddin quoted the Court of Appeal's decision which said Najib's act had nothing to do with national interest but was a "national embarrassment".

Former prime minister Najib Razak

Najib has not taken kindly to Muhyiddin's attacks and has also targeted the Bersatu leader, branding him a traitor.

Muhyiddin was among the leaders responsible for bringing down the Pakatan Harapan federal government in February 2020 after he pulled Bersatu out of the coalition.

Muhyiddin went on to form an alliance with the opposition at the time that included Umno and became prime minister in March 2020, only to be ousted after 17 months by a group of Umno MPs that included Najib.

"Najib has repeatedly accused me of being treacherous but no court has convicted me of any crime.

"He also asked how much I have spent for the people. When I was the prime minister, I prepared RM530 billion in various aid packages and economic stimuli. Not a sen went to my bank account.

"Unlike him where billions can enter his bank account. That's your boss," he said, in reference to Najib's "Bossku" slogan. - Mkini
