JOHOR POLLS | Perikatan Nasional (PN) is offering Johor a 10-year economic development plan if it wins the upcoming Johor state election.
PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin said he has given assurance that his vast experience in leading the country and as a former Johor menteri besar would help in the advancement of Johor’s economy.
“Yes, we will develop a plan, perhaps 10 years ahead, on how Johor can advance in all sectors of the economy,” he said during a question and answer session with 50 representatives from non-government associations.
He was responding to a question on what will be the strategy and economic transformation of PN under his leadership in Johor.
The former prime minister has previously offered to be the economic adviser if PN wins the March 12 polls.
Muhyiddin, who is also the chairperson of the National Recovery Council, said a team of experts would be formed to formulate a new economic plan for Johor.
He would also direct ministers from related economic sectors to give briefings.
“This plan will cover all areas of business, retail, tourism, agriculture and others.
“Johor has good potential, such as tourism, but what other steps are we taking to encourage tourists to come to Johor and spend the most money?” Muhyiddin said.
Through the plan, PN will also look at the per capita income of the people in particular as the pandemic has severely impacted the economic situation of a large number of people in the state.
“We strive for an improvement within five to 10 years. There are many areas we need to look into, among which is that we want to see most of our children who are out of the school system to get jobs,” the Bersatu president added.
