PETALING JAYA: Seven men have been arrested to assist in the investigation of a Bangladeshi killed by his compatriot in a fight on the rooftop of a shophouse in Sitiawan, Perak, yesterday.
Manjung police chief Nor Omar Sappi said the seven Bangladeshis had been remanded for seven days until Sunday to assist in the investigation.
Police are still looking for the main suspect, he said.
Nor Omar said the 39-year-old victim was working with the main suspect as operators in the same factory.
“They lived in the same place with the other seven Bangladeshi men. The two men had gone to the rooftop of the shoplot to chat, while the others slept downstairs.
“At about 3am, a housemate of the victim heard cries of help coming from the rooftop,” he said, according to a Berita Harian report.
When they rushed upstairs, they saw the victim covered in blood, unconscious.
He said there were five stab wounds on the victim’s body but no weapon was found at the scene.
Nor Omar said the motive for the murder is still unclear.
Police have asked those with information to contact investigating officer Ashazarul Khairi Ab Hamid at 012-5077026. - FMT
