Some 472 areas in Klang Valley are experiencing water supply disruption on the second day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri after pollution was detected at the Jenderam Hilir Raw Water Pump Station intake.
In a statement, Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (Luas) said the incident has caused a temporary shutdown of the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant at 6.15am and Bukit Tampoi Water Treatment Plant at 11.30am today.
The areas affected by the disruption are within five Air Selangor regions comprising Petaling (172 areas) and Sepang (196), Hulu Langat (54), Putrajaya (23) and Kuala Langat (27).
These areas began experiencing unscheduled water supply disruption at 3pm today.
"Alternative assistance through water tankers will be mobilised to consumers, with priority given to critical premises.
"Air Selangor is making all efforts to minimise the impact of disruption on the affected consumers," said Luas, urging affected consumers to store enough water while waiting for the water supply to recover fully.
This is the second incident that happened within four days at the Jenderam Hilir Raw Water Pump Station.
The previous incident was on April 30, when water cuts affected 463 areas due to odour pollution. - Mkini
