Ex-Bersatu lawmaker joins Amanah

Former Telok Mas state assemblyperson Noor Effandi Ahmad, who was sacked by Bersatu during the Malacca political crisis last October, has joined Amanah.

Taking to Facebook yesterday, Malacca Amanah chairperson Adly Zahari (above, right) said he welcomes Effandi to the Amanah family.

"May we continue to strive for a better future for the country," said the Malacca Pakatan Harapan chief.

Noor Effandi, who served as a state executive council member between 2018 and 2021, said he handed over his membership form to Adly yesterday.

Noor Effandi, together with the then Sungai Udang state assemblyperson Idris Harun and two others, had retracted their support for the Sulaiman Md Ali's Umno-Bersatu government in favour of Pakatan Harapan.

This has led to the dissolution of the Malacca state assembly and a fresh poll.

The other two were the then Umno's Pantai Kundor state assemblyperson Nor Azman Hassan and the then Pengkalan Batu state assemblyperson Norhizam Hassan Baktee.

Noor Effandi was the only one to sit out of the Malacca polls.

BN won with a two-thirds majority by capturing 21 of the 28 seats in the Malacca state election on Nov 20, 2021. - Mkini
