First phase of Putrajaya Line opens on June 16

Residents in northern areas of Greater Kuala Lumpur will have a new MRT service from Kwasa Damansara to Kampung Batu.

PETALING JAYA: Phase 1 of the MRT Putrajaya Line will begin operating at 3pm on June 16, with the promise of greater connectivity and accessibility for the public.

MRT Corporation told FMT that 12 stations would be open in Phase I. They are: Kwasa Damansara, Kampung Selamat, Sungai Buloh, Damansara Damai, Sri Damansara Barat, Sri Damansara Sentral, Sri Damansara Timur, Metro Prima, Kepong Baru, Jinjang, Sri Delima and Kampung Batu.

Phase 2, from Kampung Batu to Putrajaya, is slated to begin operations in January .

Passengers using Phase 1 will have seamless transfer to the MRT Kajang Line, allowing passengers to switch lines quicker with platforms on the same level at the Kwasa Damansara station.

First-mile and last-mile connectivity would also be provided with feeder buses and GoKL buses at stations.

The company said the MRT Putrajaya Line will bring the public closer to nature by offering connectivity to the Forest Research Institute Malaysia and Kepong Metropolitan Park.

The line had previously been slated for operation in August 2021 but was postponed to mid-November the same year and later faced further delays.

Upon completion, the MRT Putrajaya Line will cover a span of 57.7km, with 36 stations from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya. - FMT
