Husam's criticism of Amanah overboard, says Kelantan party chair

Kelantan Amanah chairperson Muhammad Husain has fired a salvo against senior party figure Husam Musa, saying that the latter’s criticism of the party’s work was against its constitution.

“Referring to the Save Kelantan chairperson’s statement in which he belittled the work of Kelantan Amanah, as well as threats to oppose candidates from his own party if they do not accept Save Kelantan’s charter, it is against the party’s constitution,” Muhammad Husain told Malaysiakini today.

Muhammad said the Kelantan Amanah committee meeting that convened yesterday also took several decisions related to the Save Kelantan movement led by Husam (above).

He said Save Kelantan was operated on the platform of the business entity SV Kelantan Global, which is registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) and has no connection with Kelantan Amanah.

“The Save Kelantan movement has never been discussed in relation to the party’s agenda, therefore it has nothing to do with Kelantan Amanah,” he said.

Husam is Kota Bahru Amanah chief and ranks among the party’s most senior members, having served as Kubang Kerian MP (1999-2004), Kijang state assemblyperson (2004-2008), Salor state rep (2008-2018) and a member of the Dewan Negara (2018-2021).

Earlier, Husam reportedly criticised Amanah for allegedly failing to conduct a check and balance on the PAS-administered Kelantan government.

Muhammad said any statement made by any party as an Amanah member that could affect the interests of the organisation was a violation of ethics and discipline.

“Kelantan Amanah celebrates any effort and action to defend the people by all parties. However, when passionately attacking PAS, Amanah members are advised not to violate their own party, even if acting in the name of any organisation.

“All activities, agendas, actions and efforts toward defending the people and the state of Kelantan which faces various problems due to the failure of the PAS government, are the priority of Kelantan Amanah,” he said.

Muhammad, who is also a former PAS state assemblyperson, said that his party remains committed to strengthening Pakatan Harapan and supporting any decision of its presidential council, especially regarding the “big tent” concept. - Mkini
