‘Sheraton Move’ a lesson for us, says PH on 4th anniversary of taking Putrajaya

PH says the win in the last general election has made it aware of the need to fully carry out its responsibilities.

PETALING JAYA: The “Sheraton Move”, which led to the fall of the 22-month-old Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, should serve as a lesson to leaders, members and supporters of the opposition coalition, its presidential council said.

The “bitter” lesson of the “Sheraton Move” should also highlight the “values of our struggle”, it said in a statement.

It also said the win in the last general election had made it aware of the need to fully carry out its responsibilities.

“We also need to be wary of those who are uneasy with the victory,” it said in commemorating its fourth anniversary of taking over Putrajaya after toppling the Barisan Nasional (BN) government in 2018.

The Sheraton Move in 2020 saw BN, Bersatu, PAS, and a faction led by PKR’s then deputy president Azmin Ali joining forces to topple the PH government.

This eventually led to Muhyiddin Yassin being appointed as the country’s eighth prime minister.

PH went on to thank the “principled” MPs and assemblymen who remained with the coalition.

It also said it would form an election and manifesto committee in preparation for the next nationwide polls. - FMT
