KUALA LUMPUR: Umno supreme council yesterday said its leaders Tan Sri Annuar Musa, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim's wife Datin Seri Shamsiah Md Yassin, who was also Arau Wanita chief, and Datuk Seri Ismail Abd Muttalib's wife Maran Wanita chief Datin Seri Fatimah Kassim have been sacked from the party.
The trio was removed for sabotaging party, based on the information reported in the FMT.
It was learnt that Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reminded party leaders and members not to attack the party in the media.
He was referring to a female MT member who had criticised the party.
"Alhamdulillah. The supreme council meeting has concluded.
"Hopefully, the decision made together will bring benefit to the party and Malaysia in general. Umno will continue to fight for all," Zahid tweeted last night.
Previously, Umno sacked four members who contested against the party for parliament seats in the 15th General Election, namely, Shahidan (Arau), Ismail (Maran), and Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin (Padang Besar), as well as Kuala Perlis assemblyman Datuk Azhar Ahmad. - NST
