Covid-19 (Dec 19): 721 new cases, 2 deaths

The Health Ministry said 721 new daily Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 5,018,584.

Active cases stood at 15,541, down 28.6 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Another two deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday - one each in Selangor and Johor.

Over the past week, an average of 5.6 people were reported to have died of Covid-19 daily, while the average for the past 30 days was 7.2, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,808 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There are 685 Covid-19 patients hospitalised of which 44 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (42), followed by Johor (24) and Kedah (15). - Mkini
