PETALING JAYA: The irrigation and drainage department (DID) has issued a warning for possible flash floods in several parts of Sabah over the next 12 hours.

Districts and localities that are likely to be affected in the state are Kota Marudu, Kudat, Pitas, Sandakan and Paitan (Beluran).

In its notice, DID said that the warning was issued based on the rain forecast made by MetMalaysia, Southeastern Asia-Oceania Flash Flood Guidance System and flood forecast model system.

“The notice was issued to ensure that residents in at-risk areas would be on alert for possible flash floods throughout the 12-hour period,” said DID. - FMT
