SHAH ALAM: Parties that claim the Selangor state government approved development project at Environmentally Sensitive Area (KSAS) around Genting Highlands should double check their facts before making accusations and pointing fingers.
Selangor Tourism and Environment Executive Council chairman Hee Loy Sian said the state government denies such claims made by the forest watchdog, Rimba Disclosure Project (RDP) regarding the matter.
"I deny and object to such claims. They are just guessing, and the information is wrong, incorrect.
"They (RDP) need to get their facts and information right first before pointing fingers to the state government," he told Berita Harian.
Yesterday, it was reported that RDP claimed that a vast area of 5,700 hectares in Genting Highlands and the surrounding mountain range has already been approved and earmarked for development, namely housing projects and commercial lots.
RDP issued a statement claiming that their investigations found that the designated area for development is along steep mountain, hillslope and is at KSAS level 1 and 2.
Technically, such an area cannot be allowed or approved for any type of development project.
Therefore, RDP urged the Selangor and Pahang state governments to immediately put a stop to all development work and projects that has been planned or is being implemented in Genting Highlands and around other highland or mountain range areas. - NST
