KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Zurainah Musa has been terminated from her post as chairman of the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) effective yesterday.
The matter was confirmed by Finas chief executive officer Professor Dr Md Nasir Ibrahim when contacted on the same day.
Md Nasir said the reason for her termination was not specified in the letter issued by the Communications and Digital Ministry.
"No reason was given in the letter. It just stated that her service as Finas chairman had been terminated since yesterday.
"There is currently no one to replace Zurainah. However, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has several candidates on hand to fill this vacancy.
"We (Finas) will provide full support and cooperation to whoever is selected.
"We would, however, be pleased if the new chairman has a high level of stature and leadership, as well as has an incredible personality, is knowledgeable, visionary, understands the film industry, skilled in government administration and experienced," he said.
At the same time, Md Nasir recorded a speech of appreciation for Zurainah's contribution and service. - NST
