PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin has hit out at the prime minister for insinuating that the opposition coalition’s election campaign was funded by gambling companies.
Calling it “fake news”, Hamzah said Anwar Ibrahim should not create such negative perceptions of PN.
Anwar, he said, should take action if there was any wrongdoing.
Hamzah said as the finance minister, Anwar should not smear the image of the previous government.
“You are the prime minister now, not the opposition leader.
“I am the opposition leader. Do not make any reckless accusations. No more fake news from you,” he said in a Facebook post tonight.
Earlier this month, Anwar told a press conference that finance ministry officers confirmed that there were serious breaches in government procedures in the purported expenditure of RM600 billion by Muhyiddin Yassin’s administration.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, had implied that PN’s election campaign was partly funded by gambling companies, particularly those involved in 4D special draws. - FMT
