PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a 26-year-old man in Ampang for allegedly beating up his younger brother who changed a TV channel.
Ampang Jaya district police chief Farouk Eshak said the beating left the 23-year-old younger brother hospitalised with chest and facial injuries.
Farouk said the incident happened at an apartment along Jalan Bukit Permai early yesterday.
The older brother had asked his sibling to change the TV channel, but he accidentally pressed the wrong button.
The man became angry and started beating up his brother.
“The man also threatened his brother, saying, ‘You’re lucky that I didn’t kill you’,” Farouk said in a statement.
Farouk said the man, who had no record of mental illness, was known to have frequent fights with the victim due to his fiery temper.
Police said the suspect had two prior criminal offences, including one for car theft. He has been remanded for four days.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing injuries and Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. - FMT
