PETALING JAYA: PAS has asked the current government to grant equal allocations to both government and opposition MPs.
PAS information chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin said this matter was brought up recently during a Dewan Negara debate.
“This was also listed in the manifesto of Pakatan Harapan, which now leads the unity government,” he said in a statement.
“We want a symbiotic relationship between the opposition and the government, just like what was practised by the PN and Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s Keluarga Malaysia governments.”
Khairil, who is Jerantut MP, also called for parliamentary reforms and further empowerment of the Public Accounts Committee and parliamentary select committees.
He said everyone was dreaming of a government that would not bring back “old grouses and conflicts” but would rather focus on helping the rakyat reeling from the effects of economic and social problems.
PN, which has 73 seats, has yet to decide on an opposition leader. - FMT
